Market overview Rise in sugar prices gradually during October seems to belie market fundamentals of persistent global surplus. On 22nd October sugar price was 13.93 cents/lb. This compares with 9.91 cents two months earlier. This is over a 40% increase over this short period. Whether this price is sustainable or is based on an informed view, will doubtless become clear over the next few months.
