Market overview It is apparent that market fundamentals have taken the driving seat in the global market place. The expectations of a global deficit in the crop year 2019/20 that started in October is now firmly entrenched. In its latest update, the analyst FO Licht has revised the 2019/20 (Oct/Sep) to 10.9 million tonnes raw value (mtrv) from 6.5 mtrv projected last October. Echoing this, Aakash Doshi, senior commodities strategist at Citi recently put the global sugar deficit in 2019/20 at 7.6 million tonnes.
