Market Overview Sugar prices posted modest gains again on 16th November with ICE March raws breaching above 15¢. Over the next couple days, the price fellow below 15¢. This was partly driven by the announcement from India that the government had approved a plan to offer incentives to sugar cane farmers to reduce the financial burden of millers and encourage exports. This is in the form of government payment of 45 rupees per ton (less than US70 cents) cane. This is less than 3% of the total cost that mills would be paying for cane supplies.
