Market overview Sugar glut continues to inform depressed prices in the global market. The global surplus is forecast at 19.6 million tonnes in the 12 months that ended Sept. 30, the biggest ever, the Australia-based Green Pool said in a report in June. On 18th July October raw sugar settled at 11.08 cents per lb. The Commonwealth Bank of Australia analyst Tobin Grey noted that mirroring the subdued market, “all the New York sugar contracts fell to new lifetime lows” on 13th July.
