Market Analysis Raw sugar fell back below 16 cents on the New York futures market, closing on 19th March at 15.89 cents per pound from 16.13 cents on 12th March. White sugar, meanwhile, slipped to US$456 per tonne from US$459.50 per tonne at the end of last week. Analysts do not believe that this presages a price collapse. The fall is driven by money managers and hedge funds cut their bullish bet in raw sugar by 2,919 contracts for the period, bringing their net long position in the sweetener to 131,390 contracts.
