Metabolite conferring systemic immunity against plant diseases identified [Registered]

Plant pathologists at the University of Kentucky have identified a metabolite that confers systemic immunity early on in plants in response attack by a wide range of pathogens. This mode of resistance has been known for more than 100 years, but the key events that stimulate that resistance have remained a mystery. The research led by Pradeep Kachroo and Aardra Kachroo, was published online in Nature Genetics March 27.
