Mechanism behind plants reprogramming cells to fight diseases elicited [Full subscriber]
Crops are often under attack from bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. Annually, over 15% of crop yields are lost to bacterial and fungal diseases, amounting to financial losses of over US$220 billion. When a plant senses a microbial invasion, it makes radical changes in the chemical composition of its proteins to combat it.
