Karuturi Agro Products, a subsidiary of Karuturi Overseas Limited, is planning a major cane sugar production project in Ethiopia’s Gambella Regional state with joint venture partners. Proposed factory, with an estimated capacity of 7000 tonnes of cane a day, will be supplied cane from some 15,000 hectares of Karuturi land in Gambella. Seed cane has already been produced on 80 ha for planting out. Cane will be irrigated and partially mechanised to support local employment.
