International investment boost for Brazil’s ethanol sector [Registered]
Brazil is seeing increased concentration and international investment in its expanding ethanol sector, according to Unica’s European spokesman Emmanuel Desplechin. He told the F.O. Licht World Ethanol conference in Geneva on 4th November that foreign capital was likely to represent 40% of all new investment in the sector by 2015 in Brazil. That compares with a 22% penetration in 2009/10, up from just 7% in 2007/08. Similarly, following the financial crisis, sectoral consolidation continues apace, with the 10 main ethanol groups comprising 28.9% of all production in the main Centre South region.
