Indonesia will decide on sugar imports later [Registered]

Indonesia has enough white sugar stocks to meet domestic demand until its milling season begins in May, a government minister said on 6 January, adding that a decision on imports would be announced later. Currently, Indonesia has about 800,000 tonnes of white sugar inventories, and was not in a hurry to import, agriculture minister Suswono told reporters. Some sugar mills in Sumatra province will begin their milling seasons in January and February, he added, explaining that this would help top up stock levels.
