Sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have filed a court petition against a state hike in prices they pay to farmers, an industry group said on 9 November, threatening a row that could delay crushing and hit output. On 2 November, the northern state raised the minimum price sugar mills must pay to farmers by 23.5% to Rs210 ($4.70) per kg for quality cane.
