India – Sugar output likely to drop in 2012/13 due to dry weather [Registered]

Sugar output from the 2012-13 crop in India is likely drop for the first time in four years next season as dry weather in some regions spurs farmers to plant other crops, reports Bloomberg, citing Charlotte Kingsman, a New Delhi-based sugar analyst. The harvest may total 24.5 million metric tons in the season beginning 1 October compared with 26 million tons this year.
