India might export 3.5 million [Registered]

India is likely to export up to 3.5 million tonnes of sugar in 2010/11 as the rains will lift the country’s output to 26 million tonnes, giving it a higher surplus to ship overseas, a senior industry official told Reuters. A Reuters poll of 11 respondents in early September estimated that India, the world’s second-biggest sugar producer, will export 1.5 million tonnes of sugar in the new season from 1 October. “Government is cautiously, step by step, allowing exports.
