India – Maharashtra’s sugar factories file for ethanol blending tender [Registered]

The sugar industry in Maharashtra has decided to submit tenders for ethanol blending in response to the tenders issued by oil distribution companies in the country, according to the chairman of Maharashtra State co-operative sugar factories federation Vijaysinh Mohite Patil, reported Times of India. Since last five years, ethanol blending programme of the union government has failed to take off. The government has proposed to blend 5% ethanol in petrol. But the oil distribution companies in the country and sugar factories who produce ethanol from molasses have not been able to reach an agreement over the ethanol purchase price.…
