India – Government relaxes sale of sugar in the domestic market [Registered]
The Food Ministry recently announced that it is allowing sugar mills to sell 10.4 million tonnes of sugar in the open market from April to September, reported the Indian Express. This relaxation doubtless comes in the wake of proposal to deregulate the sugar industry awaiting approval from the Cabinet. Over the next six months, sugar mills are allowed to sell the entire quota without any inter-month restrictions.
