India -Crushing delay unlikely to reduce overall output [Registered]

Sugar output in India halved to 2.5 million tonnes between Oct. 1 and Dec. 15 compared with last year, due to a delay in sugarcane crushing operations, especially in Uttar Pradesh, according to the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA). After a slow start, the 2013-14 sugarcane crushing season has been catching up fast. About 426 mills were crushing till December 15, as against 457 mills in the year-ago period, ISMA said.
