India – 2011/12 sugar output to be higher than previous year [Registered]
India produced 16.1 million tonnes of sugar between October 1 and February 15, up from 14 million tonnes a year ago, according to the Indian Sugar Mills Association recently. It said output in the western state of Maharashtra was at 5.7 million tonnes, up 14% year-on-year while that from the Uttar Pradesh state was at 4.5 million tonnes, up 13%. India is estimated to produce 26 million tonnes in the 12 months starting on October 1, 2011, higher than the annual demand of about 24.3 million tonnes.… Login to continue
