Highwater Ethanol to retrofit to produce biobutanol with Butamax technology [Registered]

Highwater Ethanol signed a letter of intent late last year to start producing butanol using the technology developed by ButamaxTM. The 50 million gallon (227 million litres) ethanol plant is expected to be retrofitted in 2013. Cost details for conversion were not supplied. Butamax’s business model is to offer current ethanol producers proprietary biobutanol technology to support plant profitability. “We are developing relationships with a group of early adopters.
