Guyana’s President inaugurates country’s first ethanol plant [Registered]

The first ever biofuel ethanol plant in Guyana was inaugurated by its President on 20 August. The demonstration plant has a capacity to produce up to 1,000 litres per day. It will use black strap molasses as a feedstock from the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) Albion Sugar Factory. This initiative is a cornerstone of the government’s energy and transport policy which includes moving towards a 10% ethanol blend (E10).
