Global expansion in ethanol production likely to slow down says FO Licht [Registered]

World ethanol production is forecast to reach at least 120 billion litres by 2022, despite significant factors impeding market growth, according to Dr Christoph Berg, managing director of FO Licht. He told the FO Licht World Ethanol and Biofuels conference in Munich recently that current global first generation ethanol production is around 104.5 billion litres, therefore this expansion could be seen as quite modest. However, five years ago, in more optimistic times, world ethanol output for 2022 was seen as 140 billion litres.
