Gevo gears up for commercial scale isobutanol production [Registered]
Small number of companies are actively involved in the research and development of “drop in” biofuels that could be easily integrated into the existing pipeline infrastructure. (This is not the case for ethanol which is corrosive.) Soon as the “drop in” fuels can be produced on commercial scale, this will open up significant opportunities for these companies to license their technologies to existing ethanol plants and have them appropriately retrofitted.
