Gevo begins retrofitting an ethanol plant to produce commercial scale biobased isobutanol [Registered]

Gevo, Inc. announced on 31 May that it has begun the retrofit of its ethanol facility in Luverne, Minnesota, to produce biobased isobutanol. The retrofit, which is expected to be complete by next summer, will make this facility the world’s first commercial-scale biobased isobutanol plant. Biobased isobutanol has emerged as a versatile molecule – it is an effective petroleum substitute.
