Germany’s 2011/12 sugar output to exceed EU’s quota by 2 millon tonnes [Registered]

Germany’s sugarbeet harvest is progressing very well in favourable weather and the country is likely to achieve the forecasts of a sharp rise in sugar output, the head of German sugar industry association WVZ told Reuters on 6th December. Dieter Langendorf, WVZ’S chief executive, said: “Harvest progress is excellent and weather is favourable. Confidence is growing that we will achieve our production targets.” Germany’s 2011/12 sugar output will rise sharply to 4.67m tonnes from 3.44m tonnes in 2010/11, the association forecast in early November. “We are not raising this estimate but there is increasing expectation that we will reach it,”…
