Germany – high sugar production from the 2011/12 crop likely [Registered]

Germany is likely to produce “significantly” more beet sugar in the upcoming 2011/12 campaign due expansion in acreage and favourable the growing conditions so far, according to the head of German Sugar Industry Association WVZ, Dieter Langendorf. He did not give a precise number but said the beet area had expanded by between 5 to 8% from the 344,000 hectares last season. The springtime drought, which hit Germany and much of west Europe had not seriously damaged sugarbeet, which then benefitted greatly from rains in June and July.
