First commercial scale plant producing sugar from grapes opens in Sicily [Registered]

Commercial production of sugar from grapes commenced at the world’s first production facility in Sicily in July. The company Naturalia Ingredients was recently formed. It is co-owned by Eridania Sadam, part of the agro-industrial group, Gruppo Maccaferri and Cantine Foraci, a Sicilian company specialising in the production of wine, musts and juices derived from grapes. Naturalia Ingredients has invested € 16 million in the facility. Number of employees from the commencement of the project to when it is fully operational will expand from 12 to 20.
