Faster data processing facilitated by magnetic vortices research [Registered]

Physicists in Germany have discovered that a lattice of magnetic vortices in a material in motion using weak electric current could advance computing by aiding faster data writing and processing. In the 17Dec 10 issue of Science (323 (5916) : 915-919), physicists at the Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM) and the Universitaet zu Koeln report the breakthrough.
