European Commission claims initial victory in court tussle with Tate & Lyle [Registered]

The European Commission has claimed it has been vindicated in the first of a series of actions against it in the European General Court by sugar refiner Tate & Lyle (T&L). The Commission claimed victory after the Court ruled that an action brought by T&L to annul one of its regulations relating to the EU sugar regime was inadmissible. The executive added the ruling would “certainly affect the other annulment applications made by the company for similar regulations taken during 2011-12 market year”.
