EU to inject 7.2 million euros to revitalise Côte d’Ivoire’s sugar industry [Registered]

The EU and the Ivorian government recently signed an agreement to improve the country’s sugar and banana industries. In the agreement, EU is to provide 5 billion CFA (7.2 million euros) for the revitalization of the sugar industry. Speaking at the event, the EU delegate to Côte d’Ivoire Geza Strammer said the fund will directed to agricultural development of the sugar sector. Projects are to be implemented within a 60 month period. Sugar production is concentrated in the northern part of the country supported by two sugar factories.
