EU preferential sugar imports fall behind [Registered]

EU preferential sugar imports from the ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific) and EBA (Everything But Arms) countries have been far lower than expected in the 2009/10 year to date, it was revealed at the management committee meeting in late August. Import licence applications reached just 1 322 000 tonnes as of 24 August 2010, 335 000t lower than the EU’s target figure for that date of 1 657 000t.
