EU member states approve more sugar import licences [Registered]

Import licences into the EU for 46 000 tonnes of raw cane sugar for refining have been given the green light by member states, taking the amount approved for import this month to 146 000t. A reduced custom duty of €263.50 was agreed upon for 36 000t in late December, while the import of a further 10 000 tonnes was approved at a duty of €269 16/t. The licences – which usually have a duty of €339/t – were adopted by representatives from the national governments at a Single CMO Management Committee. Two other tenders had this month seen bids…
