EU imports additional 150 000 sugar [Registered]

The EU has given the green light to import 152 208 tonnes of sugar, after avid bidders snapped up major tender during the 3rd week in July and a series of highly over-subscribed duty-free import quotas. Management committee meeting on 28th July saw the Commission accept the following bids: 141 960t of raw sugar for refining with a minimum import duty of €151.05/t; 200t of other raw cane sugar at minimum import duty of €170/t; and 10 048t white sugar at minimum import duty of €225/t.
