EU authorizes Cosan- Shell joint venture [Registered]

The European Commission has approved a joint venture between Shell Brazil Holding B.V., a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell and Cosan S. A. the biggest sugar and ethanol producer in Brazil. The new company will produce, sell and distribute sugar, ethanol and fuel in Brazil and on the international market, as well as develop and license ethanol production technology emerging from their R&D stable. The company is scheduled to start operating in the first half of 2011.
