Dyadic secures a US patent for an efficient enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose [Registered]

The biotech start-up Dyadic was recently granted U.S. Patent No. 8,673,618 entitled, “Construction of highly efficient cellulase compositions for enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose” by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”). This new patent provides broader intellectual property rights relating to compositions and methods of developing and producing novel enzymes which efficiently convert different sources of plant biomass (e.g. corn stover, wheat straw and bagasse) to fermentable sugars. These sugars can be used in the production of cellulosic biofuels and bio-based chemicals.
