Dangote to expand cane sugar production in Nigeria through $1.5 billion investment [Registered]

Nigeria’s biggest sugar refiner Dangote is expected to break into cane sugar production with an investment of $1.5 billion (R15.4bn) over the next five years, reported Reuters. “In the next five years, we should be able to produce 1.5 million tons locally, from around 50 000 tons now,” Abdullahi Sule, the managing director of Dangote Sugar, said on 3rd September on the sidelines of a conference in the capital, Abuja.
