Crystal structure of metallic glass confers the superb properties it has [Registered]

Glass, by definition, is amorphous; its atoms lack order and are arranged every which way. But when scientists squeezed tiny samples of a metallic glass under high pressure, they discovered that the atoms lined up in a regular pattern to form a single crystal. Researchers at the US Department of Energy’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and Stanford University discovered this hidden property in glass by accident.
