Codexis scales up cellulase production for biorenewables market [Registered]
Codexis announced on 12 July that it is scaling up the production of the company’s proprietary cellulase enzymes. These enzymes are used to release sugars from cellulosic feedstocks which are then made available for microbial fermentation for the production of biofuels, biochemicals and bio-based performance ingredients used in household goods such as laundry detergents and shampoos. The commercial scale production of the enzyme is underway at Fermic S.A. de C.V, a contract fermentation and synthesis company based in Mexico City, Mexico.
