China sugar output falls 12.8% in March [Registered]

China produced 1.77 million tonnes of sugar, white value, in March 2011, down 12.8% from 2.03 million produced in the same month last year, China Sugar Association data showed. That brought total production in the first half of 2010/11 (Oct/Sep) to 9.80 million tonnes, down 509,800 tonnes or 4.9% from the same period a year ago. Output in the country’s top sugar producing province of Guangxi reached 6.55 million tonnes by the end of March, down 7% on the year.…
