China sugar and sweetener situation – November 2010 [Registered]

China produced 704,800 tonnes of sugar, white value, in the first two months of 2010/11 (Oct/Sep), down from 792,000 tonnes produced in the same period in 2009/10, China Sugar Association (CSA) data showed. Cane sugar production fell to 307,600 tonnes from 478,800 a year ago, while beet sugar output was up at 397,200 tonnes compared with 313,200. All sugar factories in northern China have started to produce beet sugar, while cane sugar production is yet to pick up pace with just 52 mills already operational of which 44 in the top sugar producing province of Guangxi.
