Canadian government invests in Bioamber’s biobased succinic acid plant [Registered]

BioAmber’s new $110 million commercial scale biobased succinic acid plant in Sarnia, Ontario, will receive a C$12 million investment from the Canadian Government (through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario) to support its construction. The 30,000 tonne capacity plant is expected to create 150 construction jobs and 60 permanent jobs once the plant is operational at the end of 2014. Succinic acid is used in the manufacturing process of many everyday products, such as plastics, cosmetics, automotive parts and construction materials. BioAmber has developed a proprietary process to produce biosuccinic acid sustainably from renewable feedstocks.…
