Brazilian ethanol production set to expand [Registered]

A government boost to its biofuel blend gasoline mandate is expected to drive strong growth in ethanol output in Brazil in 2013. Maurilio Biagi Filho, CEO of ethanol producer Grupo Maubisa, said production in Brazil’s Centre South, the world’s largest sugar cane producing region, will rise 14% this year. “We’ll produce more ethanol because of the increase in the blend,” Biagi told Bloomberg.”The mixture is returning to the levels of two years ago.” Ethanol production this year is projected at 25 billion litres, up from 22 billion litres in 2012.
