Brazil – Transpetro invests in transporting ethanol via waterway [Registered]
Petrobras’ logistics division Transpetro will commence transport of ethanol via barges from its new shipyard in Aracatuba, Sao Paulo state along the Tiete-Parana waterway in 2013. Investment of $400 million is allocated for the building of 20 barges that will carry equivalent to 45,000 barrels. The project is two years behind schedule – the shipyard will start building of barges during the first half of 2013. The new barges will carry ethanol produced in the center-west of Brazil to ports and markets in the southeast.
