Brazil – Insolvency in the sugar-ethanol sector continues [Full subscriber]

Bankruptcies in the sugar-ethanol sector sparked by credit crunch nearly ten years ago do not seem to have ebbed, according to a survey conducted by RPA Consultoria. Despite a couple of years of high global sugar prices, more than a few sugar and ethanol mills are struggling to meet their debt obligations. This is further exacerbated by the drop in sugar and ethanol prices in the first quarter of the 2017/18 crop.
