Biodegradable plastics from corn starch and sugar [Registered]
Using corn starch and sugar as feedstocks, a Tel Aviv University researcher and his team are researching into producing biodegradable plastics that are even tougher than those made from petrochemicals. Prof. Moshe Kol and his team at the university developed several new catalysts to aid the production. They are currently collaborating with research partners at the University of Aachen in Germany and the University of Bath in England.
