Bahrain’s first sugar refinery to be operational in 2013 [Registered]

Bahrain’s first sugar refinery is scheduled to operational in early 2013 according to International Investment Bank (IIB). A leading Islamic lender in Bahrain, IIB is also a 22% shareholder in the $99 million project. IIB’s CEO Aabed Al-Zeera told Al Wasat newspaper in a statement that the plant has capacity refine 585,000 tonnes of annually. Anmar Al-Arrayed, Managing Director of the plant said “This is the first stage whereby the plant plans to double their capacity in the 2nd stage”.
