Australia â Over 20% of cane crop unharvested due to flooding in Queensland [Registered]
Extensive flooding in Queensland in January preceded by rains during November/December last year has resulted in some 20% of the cane crop not harvested. The wet weather caused harvesting and planting delays in the central, Burdekin and Herbert regions, with the exceptions being Far North Queensland mills where conditions were better than average. Cane growers hit most are in the Burdekin, Plane Creek and Herbert River regions with 20 to 30% of their crop not harvested.
