Agro EcoEnergy Tanzania plans for new sugar-ethanol complex [Registered]

A new 5000 tonnes cane/day capacity sugar factory, along with a cogen and ethanol plant is planned at a greenfield site located at Wami Basin, about 100 km north of Dar es Salaam. An investment of $425 million is earmarked for the Bagamoyo project. Confirmation of the funding is expected to be finalised by end of December 2012. The factory is likely to start processing sugar in first quarter 2015 according to Anders Bergfors, MD of the project.
